HR 6598 the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act
UAN's Premarin Awareness Campaign, taking action when animals need your help! The time has come ... please take a couple minutes TODAY to call your U.S. Representative to support the newly introduced H.R. 6598, the Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act. This legislation was just introduced and is scheduled to be heard in the Judiciary Committee tomorrow morning, that's why your call TODAY is so important.

It's so easy to do... I just did it myself.

You can reach your representative by calling the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and providing your Zip Code to the operator, or you can locate your representative's phone number by visiting www.house.gov.

When contacting your U.S. Representative, it's important to remember to be polite and respectful.  Here is a suggested script for conveying all of the necessary points to the legislative staffer:

"Hello, my name is [your name] and I live in [your town]. As a constituent, I'm calling to urge my Representative to co-sponsor a new important bill: H.R. 6598, the Conyers-Burton Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act, to prevent horses from being cruelly slaughtered for human consumption."

Want to learn more about this legislation? Click here to visit the Animal Welfare Institute's Web site. UAN, Animal Welfare Institute, The Humane Society of the United States and other horse rescue and advocacy organizations are members of the Homes for Horses Coalition.

You can also visit UAN's Web site to learn about common horse slaughter myths and facts.

Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your busy day to help horses!

Warmly,

Karen Brown
Director of Programs

P.S. If you can't find a moment to call today, when you are able, call your representative anyway to let him or her know about the legislation and to express your support for ending horse slaughter.
